Road Signs
This assignment was called Road signs with aim to create different symbols for each sign. All the signs were based on a theme with each sign resembling different parts of the topic chosen. The theme I decided to represent was the sport, soccer. I enjoy soccer and believe that there are many different ideas which can be created in order to explain what it is and the reason of its existence. Initially, I began by naming the first sign ‘Red Light District’ relating to the referee who often provides players with red cards during a soccer game after performing a penalty. The second sign is a plain soccer pitch representing the field in which the sport of soccer is played on. Thereafter, the third sign is a ball in the air exemplifying low gravity. The forth sign symbolizes high crime; I thought this was the best sign of all as it clearly shows a person getting injured which worked well within the theme as soccer players often become injured. Then for the fifth sign which i named ‘Street Busker’, I used the activity of street busking where a person is juggling for money representing the juggling of the soccer ball. The ‘Gold Digger’ refers to the cheerleaders who are attempting to grab the famous soccer player’s attention, being attracted to him only for his fame and money. The seventh sign is a player kicking soccer balls fitting perfectly within the theme. The ‘Fun Run’ sign symbolizes the soccer player who enjoys himself while running. The ninth sign, ‘Cinemas’ exemplifies the crowd who watches the game with anticipation just like a crowd watching a movie at a cinema. ‘Fashion shop’ was a sign resembling the soccer players’ uniform. The second last sign, ‘Wet paint’ shows foot prints representing the soccer boots which are worn by the players to practise the game of soccer. The final sign, ‘Big Surf’ symbolizes the most important part of soccer who are the crowd of supporters, cheering and supporting their soccer team while the game is played.
